This project began as an ode to life — a quiet attempt to cultivate an inner garden, a space for reflection and beauty amidst the noise of the city. As I worked with the materials, stitching and assembling, I found myself drawn deeper into the hidden architecture of plants — not just their form, but their spirit.
I remembered a book I had long cherished: The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird. Its pages speak of the profound physical, emotional, and spiritual ties between plants and humans. One line struck me in particular: “It is a dark and cold world we sit in if we will not open the inward eyes of the spirit to the inward flame on nature.”
Guided by this sentiment, I began to shape a kind of quiet dogma — a narrative of the inner workings of plant life, one that could live alongside my work. Through texture, structure, and form, I hope to reveal something not just seen, but felt — the subtle intelligence, memory, and mystery of these beings we so often overlook.
